Burnline tells you how long you can stay in the sun before you burn. It is published by Andrej Sazdovski. The short version: your location never leaves your phone. Burnline records anonymous usage statistics so we can see which parts of the app people actually use, and nothing it records identifies you.
Location
Burnline asks for your location only while you are using the app. It uses your latitude, longitude and altitude to calculate the sun's angle where you are standing, so your burn time reflects your sky rather than a national average.
That calculation happens entirely on your device. The sun's position is computed from your coordinates locally — they are never transmitted to us, and never to any third party. If you decline the permission, the app falls back to a default location and keeps working.
What the app stores, and where
Your skin type, your SPF choices, and your exposure history are stored locally on your device only. There is no account and there are no servers that receive your content.
Anonymous usage analytics
Burnline records which screens you open and which actions you take — for example that a burn time was viewed, or that onboarding was completed — using PostHog, hosted in the European Union. This tells us which features are worth building on and where people get stuck.
Each install is given a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email address, Apple ID or advertising identifier. Your location is never sent to analytics. We do not track you across other apps or websites, and Burnline contains no advertising SDK. See PostHog's privacy policy.
Feature requests
If you open the feature request board, the app connects to Google Firebase to load the list and to record your vote. Signing in is anonymous — no email address and no account. If you submit a request, the text you write is stored and shown publicly to other users of the app, so please do not include anything private. See Firebase's privacy information.
Notifications
If you enable reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. No push server is involved and we cannot see them.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through your App Store account. We use RevenueCat to check whether a subscription is active. RevenueCat processes a randomly generated app-user identifier and your Apple purchase receipt. This does not include your name, email, or location. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
We never receive your payment details.
Health data
Burnline does not read from or write to Apple Health. Your skin type is something you tell the app directly, and it stays on the device.
Children
Burnline is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your control
You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings. Because your data lives on your device, deleting the app removes all of it.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by the date above.
