By downloading or using Burnline ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What the app is

Burnline estimates how long unprotected or protected skin can be exposed to sunlight before erythema (sunburn) is likely, using published solar-geometry models, the CIE Standard Erythema Dose, and Fitzpatrick skin-type minimal erythema doses.

Not medical advice — read this part

Burnline is an informational tool, not a medical device, and it is not a substitute for medical advice. Its outputs are estimates based on models and on the information you provide. Real burn risk depends on cloud cover, reflection from water, sand and snow, altitude, medication, skin condition, and how evenly sunscreen is actually applied — factors the app cannot observe.

Do not rely on Burnline as your only protection against sun damage. Always follow standard sun-safety guidance and the instructions on your sunscreen. If you have concerns about skin cancer, photosensitivity, or a mole that has changed, consult a qualified physician.

Estimates, not guarantees

We do not guarantee that following the app's guidance will prevent sunburn or any other harm. The app deliberately errs toward caution — for example, it treats sunscreen as substantially weaker than its label SPF, because real-world application is thinner than laboratory conditions — but caution is not a guarantee.

Subscriptions

Burnline offers auto-renewing subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.

You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings at any time. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Prices are shown in the app before purchase and may vary by territory.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, resell, or redistribute the app, or use it in any way that breaks applicable law.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage — including sunburn or skin damage — arising from use of or reliance on the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the date above.
